Commuters make up a vast group of people that pass through Birminghams city centre everyday, and the experience of travelling can be quite stressful. Commuters will often have to use public transport (the market is in close proximity to Grand central station), they have to walk through large crowds of people and they have to stay alert. With the market being such a vital circulation route into the city centre, I wanted to design a health cabin that would help with the psychological needs of travellers. Going on a commute can be quite a robotic experience, we aren't really aware of whats going on around us with the desperate rush to get from A to B as quickly as possible. A stressful commute can lead to a day starting or finishing badly, and so I wanted my cabin to be something that would not hinder the commuter but would improve there experience or add a moment of humanisation. I decided that the best way to this, would be to interact with the senses through the design of the space.
